About Dreamcatcher
Dreamcatcher (드림캐쳐) is a 7-member Korean pop-metal group under Dreamcatcher Company. They debuted on 13 January 2017 with the single album "Nightmare", with its title track " Chase Me." Since their debut, Dreamcatcher has released 8 EPs and 2 studio albums, as well as 16 singles. The most recent of which, BEcause, peaked at number 6 in World Digitial Song Sales. This most recent song is off of their EP Summer Holiday, which peaked at number 2 on the GaOn Music Chart in Korea.
Dreamcatcher is known for a more rock-based sound than you would expect from Korean groups. They're choreography is also much more intense than their peers. Members Sua and Dami have choreographed some of their numbers. Visually, Dreamcatcher brings a dark/nightmare-ish energy to their music, a style underrepresented in Korean popular music, especially amongst female idol groups. They are an undeniably beautiful group with a creepy overlay.
Their music also comes with a message. In their 'Dystopia Era' they released three music video singles that were meant to be one story together. Scream, the first of the series, begins with the death of the Tree of Language, causing hate to be spread. The second part, BOCA, shows the members trying to navigate through this new hateful world, while trying to protect the innocence and joy that the tree of language stands for. And the final part, Odd Eye, we learn that the hate speech has completely taken over, and the girls have failed to hold back dystopia. This is a commentary on how we as a community and society treat each other, and how if we're not careful, we could lose the good in the world and not even realize it.
